Brands and charities across the UK are raising awareness about the causes of skin cancer and encouraging preventative measures.
Help educate your clients on the importance of protecting their skin by sharing the following campaigns:
Skcin‘s ‘Protect and Check’ campaign
UK skin cancer charity, Skcin, has launched ‘Protect and Check’ – a campaign aimed at raising awareness of the signs and symptoms of skin cancer and combating its increasing prevalence, which now affects 1 in 5 people in the UK.
To highlight the importance of prevention and early detection, the campaign educates the public about the elevated risk of skin cancer in individuals with a history of sunburn, tanning or sunbed use. UK citizens are encouraged to ‘protect’ their skin daily with SPF (Sun Protection Factor) and to ‘check’ their skin monthly for any changes.
Marie Tudor, CEO of Skcin, comments: “Skin cancer is highly preventable and visibly detectable –making awareness and education our greatest weapons in the fight against the disease. As a charity dedicated to the prevention and early detection of skin cancer through educational intervention, our mission is to create a future where sun safety is second nature and checking your skin is as routine as brushing your teeth.”
Help spread awareness in your beauty business by sharing powerful stories within your community and promoting the charity’s free digital resources on your social media feeds.
Skcin also offers MASCED and MASCED Pro training: online courses designed to help professionals spot the early signs of skin cancer in clients. Get involved here, and click here to read a tech’s tale about how the training benefitted her client.
CTPA Sun Protection Campaign
UK trade association, Cosmetic, Toiletry and Perfumery Association (CTPA), is rolling out its annual Sun Protection Campaign, aimed at raising awareness of how to enjoy the sun safely. The campaign features an online page answering some of the most frequently asked questions about sun exposure – including the different levels of sun protection, how to understand SPF products and how to protect children from UV radiation. The resources are available at www.thefactsabout.co.uk.
Dr Emma Meredith OBE, director-general of CTPA says: “CTPA is proud to contribute to public health communications with its annual sun protection campaign. Our consumer website, www.thefactsabout.co.uk, has a wealth of important information about how to enjoy the sun safely.”
