A nail salon in Dubai, Lanour Beauty, has unveiled the ‘smart nail.’

The smart nail is a cutting edge contactless microchip, which is applied as part of a manicure that allows you to store a small amount of information at the tip of your fingers.

The chip is glued on top of the nail with a colour applied on top, making it a simple application process.

It can be used in many different ways such as a digital business card; access card and it could be used for payments in the near future.

Without requiring a battery to operate, the stored information can be read using a smart phone from a short distance and the information can also be personalised and rewritten.

“The idea came from the paperless, contactless and social distancing time that we are in. Many businesses suffered during covid-19, us included, so we decided to be innovative and reinvent ourselves so we can survive in these unprecedented times. It is fascinating how humans can push the limits and adapt” said Nour Makarem, Founder and CEO of Lanour Beauty.
