The Spa at Bedford Lodge Hotel has completed further cancer therapy training to extend its treatment offering to support people during a difficult time.
Now with seven fully-qualified therapists, the spa worked with training provider, Wellness for Cancer, to complete the programme.
The two-day programme includes detailed material from specialist oncology doctors and professionals and sees practical training that looks at body changes and levels of touch and adaption to ensure full competency.
Working with Wellness for Cancer, ESPA’s Nurture & Support programme has developed a collection of four face and body rituals. The offering includes a Be Nurtured Facial, Be Nurtured Massage and Be Nurtured Back, Face & Scalp Massage.
The treatments have an emphasis on holistic wellbeing to reduce stress and promote inner calm. Beginning with an initial consultation, the guests are guided through breath work and visualisations techniques to steady breathing, create a sense of peace and induce relaxation. Crystals are also used throughout and positioned on the relevant chakras to balance the mind.
Using safe and specialist techniques, the programme is underpinned by in-depth therapist training and assessment by both Wellness for Cancer and the ESPA Training Academy.
“Treating guests undergoing treatment for cancer or post-treatment has not always been easy,” states Rebecca Randall, spa manager at The Spa at Bedford Lodge Hotel. “Our guests come to us for TLC and to relax and unwind at a time of need, so it is important to cater to specific needs of each guest. Wellness for Cancer and the ESPA Nurture & Support programme has enabled us to ensure that our treatments are safe and relaxing for all of our clients”
