Mel Lewendon Nail Art Challenge

Melanie Lewendon

Melanie Lewendon, Scratch Stars Mixed Media Artist of the Year finalist 2020, has been keeping her creative streak alive through an A-Z nail art challenge.

The talented tech has been creating one mixed media nail design a day for every day of lockdown, each themed around a different letter of the alphabet.

“I started this challenge as I needed to do something to take my mind of the effects of the coronavirus pandemic and turn time off work into a positive experience,” Melanie explains. “Mixed media and Fantasty designs are my passion so I decided to push my skills by creating these mini designs.”

Creations include art themed for A, cleaning themed for C, and family time themed for F.

“I had to think of a corresponding theme for each letter of the alphabet which correlates to what lockdown means or what is happening,” Melanie continues. “Each day represents something we should do or be grateful for.”

Melanie spends between three hours and two days on each design, depending on their complexity. “I’ve found that the designs have become more elaborate day by day. It’s important to keep creativity alive and I want to cheer up and motivate fellow techs and clients during this time.”
