With dreams of one day owning her own luxury nail salon, Cherie Whitlock of Ma Cherie shares her next steps in her career & reveals what she loves most about being a nail tech…

Cherie’s creative streak instantly attracted her to the industry, led by a lifetime of talent and passion for art. “Art has always been something I was quite good at, so I thought I should just give it a shot,” she smiles.

Completing her NVQ 2 and 3 in Beauty Therapy at college, Cherie continued her treatment further into the nail and beauty spaces with a range of brands, before making the decision to focus solely on nails in 2013.

With many of her clients opting for a simple and clean look, Cherie reveals the most popular nail style is a French tip on a builder gel overlay.

“My personal all-time favourite nail style would have to be a clean and simple nude look,” she shares. “To perfect my prep, I use Navy Professional’s Cuticle Tools, and my go-to shades for a fresh minimal mani are The GelBottle’s Builder in a Bottle in Dolly and Teddy. They always look so pretty and elegant.”

“The next steps in my career are to continue building my online presence and brand through social media, enabling me to grow my business even further,” Cherie reveals. “Alongside this, I want to continue to expand my nail skills and knowledge to ensure that I’m always up-to-date with the latest trends in an ever-changing industry.”

My hope for my future in nails is to ultimately have my own nail salon, offering high end treatments with exceptional service, with the ambition to be a household name.”

“What I love most about my job is the enjoyment and happiness you bring to people,” she beams. “It’s amazing what a fresh set of nails can do for people’s confidence, and having that little bit of time for themselves in this crazy, busy world we live in.

“I also love the satisfaction of looking at my work and being able to think, I did that.”
