Ashleigh Brace of May May Beauty chats with Scratch about creating this dreamy nail design and her life as a nail tech.
“My time in the industry began when I studied beauty therapy in college when I was 17. I enjoyed it, however at the time, it wasn’t something I wanted to carry on doing. Fast forward nearly 10 years, and I have been a nail tech for two years. It took a while for me to find something that I enjoy, but I absolutely love what I do now.
“I really feel that prep is key for good nails, and for a long time my favourite set would be just a plain colour to really show off how neat they were. However, during lockdown I took a few masterclasses with some very talented nail techs and now I am a massive lover of everything nail art, especially negative space. I wouldn’t be where I am now without The Gel Bottle Inc. Its products are amazing; my favourite product is the Builder in a Bottle. For me, it’s a game changer!
“This lilac sky set was for my cousin who always wants the most girliest, prettiest set. I had been planning them for days and trying to decide which colours to use. In the end I mixed The Gel Bottle Inc shades Violet and Californian to create a custom gradient in colours. I then added a few dreamy clouds and glowing stars with a dotting tool using The Gel Bottle Inc shades Daisy and Snow Queen. We were both really happy with how they turned out.
“My favourite thing about being in the nail industry is the community. Everyone is so kind and supportive! I’ve made some friends for life all over the world who are always there for nail advice, and personal stuff too. We are like a big family. The highlight of my career so far was being able to go full time in under a year. I’m so proud of myself in how far I’ve come in such a short time; every day gets better and I can’t wait to see what the future holds!
“I hope that one day I will be able to maybe open up my own salon, have a team work with me and carry on making pretty nails forever!”
