Salon in the Spotlight: Claire Georgina Beauty Room, Worcestershire

After a very successful business in the baking industry, Claire Welch decided it was time for a career change to allow her to have better time management in her personal life and swapped the bakery for the nail salon, an industry which she had been fascinated with for a long time.
Claire began her training in 2022 through The Guild of Beauty Therapists and after completing this, Claire opened the doors to her Beauty Room on 31 October 2022.
Located in a private road in a small town in Worcestershire, Claire has built up a diverse group of clientele, from young professionals to retired ladies. She focuses on her client’s safety and allows clients to unload their burdens and relax, specialising in aiding people with anxiety, depression and going through the menopause.
Using Bio Sculpture products, Claire offers full cover extensions but her most popular treatment is a gel manicure.
Striving for a homely feel, Claire turned the spare room of her house into her salon.
“It’s calm, traditional, homely and doesn’t have the clinical feel a salon sometimes has,” reveals Claire.
“I want people to feel instantly at home. My client’s normal reaction is ‘Oh this is a lovely room,’ and that’s exactly what I wanted. I wanted my people to feel like they can come in their slippers and comfy clothes,” Claire shares.
Making her Beauty Room unique with the help of her furry assistants at the client’s discretion, Harry the labrador and Mabel the golden retriever often join the appoinments. Claire is also child-friendly, offering a safe hallway with toys and snacks for her client’s children if needed.
Claire plans to keep the business as it is, keeping the ethos and salon atmosphere the same to allow her to maintain a work-life balance with her family. However, once her kids are older, she hopes to take on more clients. She also hopes to collaborate with a local aesthetics practitioner in the near future to provide events for birthdays, hen parties and corporate functions, combining nails, lashes and facials with food and drink packages and pampering sessions.
