Salon in the Spotlight: JK Beauty, Stockton On Tees

After originally dreaming of flying the sky as cabin crew, it was Jessica Healey’s love of beauty that kept her grounded and inspired her new career. “I’ve always been interested in nails so I decided to study my Beauty Therapy Level 2 and 3 – and since then I’ve been doing exactly what I love doing,” Jessica reveals.
“I started working within a salon and built a great clientele. From that, I wanted to use the fantastic opportunity to start my own business. I originally considered working mobile, but came to the decision mobile wasn’t for me. This led me to renovating one of my rooms within my house in to my very own beauty salon.”
Seeing a chic, minimal décor with pops of blue and silver, the salon provides a serene space. “I’ve ensured my salon is as welcoming and cosy as possible,” Jessica continues. “There’s always a warm cup of tea waiting during the winter months or a refreshing cold drink during the summer. I always make sure I make both regular and new clients feel welcome as I pride myself in my customer service and satisfaction.”
This approach to client care has seen Jessica’s return to work after maternity a smoother journey. “I was planning on taking six months out after the birth of my son, but while I was off I missed doing my passion. I don’t see it as ‘work’! I decided to accept appointments after just seven weeks off. My clients were asking after me and it gave me confidence that I made the right decision on pursuing my dream!
“I’ve become so busy that I’ve invested in an online booking system which allows my clients to choose what appointments suits them which is important as making sure you can accommodate for everyone.
“Currently, I offer HD Brow, Nouveau and Gelish gel polish treatments. I continue to improve my skills and keep up to date with the latest trend and styles with nails and lashes. I’ve also recently converted to Halo Gel Polish by Pure Nails in addition. I fell in love with the wide range of colours and how well the results for my clients.
“I’ve realised working within such as competitive industry it’s important to help one another, to help the industry as a whole grow!”
