The Ipswich nail & beauty salon that’s ‘All About You’

Six years ago, Samantha Deer was a mobile nail tech, travelling to and from clients’ homes to deliver quality services. But an overload of equipment and practical restrictions forced her to rethink her working model.
After completing her NVQ Levels 2 & 3, and achieving diplomas in Reflexology, Aromatherapy and Indian Head Massage, Samantha Deer began her career in a spa. But following an injury at work, she decided to change tack and work for herself.
“I needed to organise my own diary and not continually put pressure on certain parts of my body,” she says, adding that this was when her mobile nail business, All About You, began.
As Samantha’s passion grew, so did her equipment. “Clients used to laugh, commenting on how it looked like I was moving in every time I arrived at their doors,” she says with a smile. “The amount of supplies I was carrying around became ridiculous, so after 10 years I finally bit the bullet and opened my own premises.”
When All About You became a stationary salon, Samantha prioritised calm and quiet. “I took the unusual decision of renting an office space within a business centre,” she reveals. “It was an unlikely spot for a salon, but it provided the peace and calm I wanted to offer clients.”
This relaxed atmosphere is also evident in All About You’s décor. “I chose softer tones of grey and silver to keep the feel sophisticated but modern, and added calming blue accents to create a clean, fresh spa aesthetic,” Samantha shares.
The furniture was all selected for specific purposes, and Samantha says that her beauty couch is the ‘pièce de résistance’. “It’s a high-quality, German engineered, bespoke piece that moves like a Transformer to keep every client happy and comfortable – no matter their limitations or restrictions,” she comments.
All About You benefits from its surroundings. Alongside being located near the coast, Samantha adds that her favourite part of the salon is the natural light. “There is a wall of windows on the top floor where you can see miles of sky, which creates a light and airy feel,” she tells Scratch.

A feeling of relaxation and serenity permeates All About You. “I think my business in distinctive in many ways: each day is different, all treatments are customised and most importantly, every client is unique,” Samantha says.
All About You offers a multitude of treatments – from massages and waxing to lash and nail services, with the latter being the most popular. “Many clients opt for builder gel manicures, as a lot of people are harder on their hands than they used to be,” Samantha reveals. “The majority of clients choose nail art to complement their personalities. I think I attract a lot of like-minded clients, as we all seem to be magpies and love a touch of glitz and glam!”
Samantha exclusively uses Lecenté products for her nail treatments. “I love that it’s a UK-based company with great ethics,” she states. “Its products are professional and high-quality, with an abundance of options to really tailor treatments to each client’s needs.”
Samantha’s hopes for the future revolve around a commitment to quality and community. “I hope that I am always a trusted source for anyone that sits in my chair,” she says. “I want the future to always be ‘All About You’.”
