US nail brand launches polish bottle recycling scheme

Since its launch in 2017, Beetles Gel Polish has built an extensive portfolio of products. Now, the brand has introduced its solution to one of the nail industry’s biggest challenges: waste reduction.
The Beetles Loves Earth Recycling Program is an initiative launched in partnership with international recycling company, TerraCycle®. Aiming to reduce the ‘environmental burden of nail empties’, the scheme recycles dry, empty glass nail polish and gel polish bottles (and their plastic caps) from any brand.

Most curbside recycling schemes do not accept nail product bottles due to residual product and processing costs. Via Beetles Loves Earth, accepted items are processed into raw materials used in construction products, including bricks, cement and concrete.
The official guidelines for acceptable items can be viewed via the Beetles Gel Polish campaign page, and all eligible glass gel and nail polish bottles, along with their associated caps, can be brought to a designated Beetles Loves Earth drop-off point for free.

There are 100 drop-off points located across the US, with expansion into more states and cities planned. Anyone interested in hosting a collection bin can do so by completing the participation form and becoming a Beetles Loves Earth Recycling Ambassador.

The scheme does not stop at the drop-off points. To encourage participation, Beetles Gel Polish is offering ‘tiered rewards based on the number of eligible bottles returned, including products, coupons and limited edition gift boxes’. Additionally, the brand has plans to develop a mail-in recycling option to make participation for consumers in rural or remote areas more convenient.

The Beetles Loves Earth Recycling Program is open now, with a first-phase goal of 50,000 bottles. Participants who bring in 10 or more empties can earn rewards including exclusive gift sets.
