Cancer support charity, Look Good Feel Better, has launched virtual make-up, skincare, hair and nailcare workshops for those affected by the disease.

The charity, which has been offering free confidence-boosting workshops across the UK for over 20 years, adapted its services in March 2020 owing to the pandemic, switching to Zoom workshops – still led by trained volunteers.

Shifnal-based nail expert, Alison Jackson, has helped the charity to structure the virtual nailcare workshops, which showcase ways to support natural nail health and serve up conditioning and care tips. She and two other nail technicians are hosting them twice a week throughout lockdown.

“The online workshops are a great way for people living with cancer to connect with one another at a time when they are likely feeling more isolated than ever,” comments Lisa Curtis, new services manager at Look Good Feel Better. “They can learn practical tips and have some fun.”

The workshops – of which 1650 were held face-to-face in 2019, offer a chance for women, men and young adults undergoing treatment for any type of cancer to connect and learn useful skills and techniques to help manage the visible side effects of cancer treatment.

Accessible to groups of up to 10 per workshop, the attendees can book via the Look Good Feel Better website. Skincare and grooming workshops are also available for men.
