Opi Green Salon Collective

OPI has announced its partnership with the Green Salon Collective, an environmental disposal service for salon waste.

OPI’s partnership with Green Salon Collective follows on a successful partnership with Wella Professionals, as a part of OPI’s parent company, Wella Company’s ongoing commitment to sustainability.

“It is our responsibility to help our consumers and salon partners make a positive impact on the planet,” states Belinda Price, OPI education manager UKI. “This partnership will be a game changer for the nail industry and OPI, enabling salons to become more environmentally conscious.”

Much of the waste produced by nail salons can be difficult to recycle, with many throwing away foil wraps, plastics, files, PPE and more to landfill. Salons also consume more plastic, paper, water and energy than other shops on the high street, making their environmental footprint larger. OPI and the Green Salon Collective together will offer education to salons and their teams on sustainability and help them implement systems to ensure they recycle all of their salon waste, to become zero waste to landfill.

Following on from the implementation of Green Salon Collective’s recycling system in OPI Nail Bars in April, all salons in the OPI network will be offered a 15% discount on their registration with Green Salon Collective.

As part of their membership each salon will be provided with separation kits and reusable recycling bins preventing waste from being sent to landfill, allowing almost every single piece of “rubbish” to be turned into something new.

Profits raised from the sale of all these commodities are redistributed and recycled by supporting charities and local communities. Charities who benefit from all profits raised from the sale of commodities include the Hair & Beauty Charity, Haircuts 4 Homeless, Trees for Cities and Food Cycle.
