The Beauty Plus Challenge (Week 3)
This challenge will be due on the 12 June @ 8AM BST
Context & challenge:
CND co-founder, Jan Arnold, has passionately spoken about the acronym B.E.A.U.T.Y. Plus as a board member of Beauty Changes Lives. The acronym is broken down as such: Belonging, Equity, Agility, Unity, Trust, You.
The concept of Beauty Plus is to represent the best of who each client is, with nail professionals creating a custom approach to nails that suit each client’s individuality.
CND’s heritage products, along with its newest innovations (PlexiGel Color Builder, PlexiGel Shaper, BRISA Glass, Odorless L&P, and the Shade Sense collection), speak to the cultural intelligence practiced within the nail industry. These products allow nail professionals around the world to celebrate inclusion by creating nails for everyone.
For this challenge, contestants will choose one word from the Beauty Plus acronym (Belonging, Equity, Agility, Unity, Trust, You) and create a set of 5 nails that relate to that theme. The inspiration for this challenge will be one of your clients.
Particulars:
- Nails for this challenge should be shown on a single hand (5 tips). Nails can be sculpted or art can be done on tips and placed on a model (you can be your own model).
- A variety of mediums can be used, but at least one CND product should be used and mentioned in the video diary.
- In your video diary for this week, please explain why you chose the word and client you did. The judges want to hear a story about a client of yours and why the word you chose made you think of them. Feel free to elaborate on this story within your write-up.

Deliverables
1. Submit one final image of each individual nail and up to 5 images of your entire nail creation, from a variety of angles.
2. A 5-7 minute video diary detailing your inspiration. Show as much technique as you can. Videos should follow this loose outline:
Intro (Welcome us on camera, take us through inspiration of challenge; no need to rehash the challenge word for word).
Technique (show innovative/major techniques that prove you did these nails).
Any Pro Tips you want to share.
Closing.
NOTE: Videos should be filmed in 9:16 Vertical format (e.g. Instagram Reel/Story or TikTok style).
3. A write-up explaining how your design was created (500 words maximum). The write-up does not need to be word for word what’s in your video. Rather, use this space to explain anything that couldn’t fit in your video or extra inspiration details.
