SELFRIDGES WELCOMES The Hand & Foot Spa

Award-winning company, The Hand and Foot Spa, has opened a nail bar in Selfridges, Birmingham.

Launched by Donna Haar-Jørgensen in London nine years ago, The Hand and Foot Spa scooped a Scratch Star owing to its stunning decor and commitment to hand and foot care.

The arrival of the nail bar, which is based on the beauty floor of the iconic city store, has already created a buzz for customers who have been able to use the newly developed computer system, meaning they can ‘try’ one of the company’s bespoke shades before it is applied.

The highly trained nail technicians use hygienically sealed equipment to minimise the risk of cross-contamination during each appointment.

“When I launched the business, my approach was to add a different dimension to the industry by combining health as well as the beauty to hand and foot treatments,” comments Donna. “I wanted create the perfect experience, and one with the best colours available, so the idea was born,” she said.

Her first salon opened in Richmond in 2008 and Donna introduced strict hygiene practices, with equipment being sealed in medical packages. Her background in the corporate world also meant she created a systematic guide for each nail technician to work to, so a treatment was the same at each visit.

The Hand and Foot Spa polish colours have also been created especially for Donna and her team and the hand creams are created using only natural skincare ingredients.

“My vision was always to build a strong brand that included all the elements I was passionate about, along with have my own range of products, and that is what has happened,” Donna continues. “Customers will always get great treatments, quality and service. Selfridges was the natural progression and so I was incredibly excited when I was asked to open in the Birmingham store.”

Selfridges Birmingham general manager, Sam Watts says: “Our customers are always welcomed with the very latest in fashion, beauty and technology when they enter the store and so with the arrival of the Hand and Foot Spa we absolutely knew this was going to be a hit.

“What we all love is the option to see what the nail colour will look like before it’s applied, and that once it is on, we can expect out manicure to last. It’s a very exciting time for Selfridges Birmingham and we are happy to have welcomed Donna and her team here.”
