2017 Great Scratch Shoot Out winner, Hannah Missen, looks back at the photoshoot that saw her team come together to create a winning image…

The shoot saw a day of fun for Hannah and her creative team. Short but sweet, the group had a lot to achieve in a small frame of time. “The shoot took place at the end of August at my chosen photographer’s studio. Located in a cool container in Leigh-On-Sea overlooking the sea, the studio was such a lovely location to work

“We only had our model, Chloe Hague, for a few hours,” Hannah adds. “To save time on shoot I made sure I had the nail tips prepped in advance, along with the props. On the day, it was just a matter of perfecting the hair, make up and lighting. Thankfully it all ran smoothly!

“The images were shot with the model laying on the backdrop,” Hannah reveals. “We played about with a few different positions for my model, but it didn’t take long to find the pose that we all agreed worked best.”

Working as a team came natural to the group, with Hannah enjoying the collaborative process immensely. “The part I enjoyed most about the shoot was working with my team,” Hannah enthuses. “It was great to get the perspectives of professionals in other areas and bounce ideas of each other.

“I met with my photographer, Simon Fowler, to brainstorm a few weeks prior to the shoot. He truly is a fantastic photographer; I have used him several times in the past and really admire his work, especially his portraits. He was a brilliant team member, too. He had so many ideas of how to bring our plans to life!

“For the hair and make-up, I called on Claire Davey,” adds Hannah. “I recently met Claire at a local networking group and mentioned that I was planning to enter the competition. She found the project really exciting and agreed to collaborate.

“We were all buzzing afterwards and couldn’t wait to see the final images! We will definitely be working together on more projects in the future.

“It felt amazing to win first place in The Great Scratch Shoot Out! I was completely overwhelmed and still can’t quite believe it. I feel very proud of what myself and my fantastic team have achieved.”
