Karolyn Mclaren's Australia Nails

Karolyn McLaren

Karolyn McLaren of Blackburn-based Belle Beau Nails  qualified in 2001 and worked part time as a mobile nail tech. After having children, she had a break from the industry and returned in 2018 to work with her daughter. She also has experience in creating theatre set designs, and utilises her artistic flair in her day-to-day working life.

She created this nail design that to acknowledge the Australian fires by using a sponging effect to layer colours. She then used a top coat mixed with black to create the smoke effect and painted the main tree using Gellifique painting gel. The gel polishes she used were by Claw Culture and Gelluv, as well as a Matte Velvet top coat by INK London. The orange shade was from Nails by… Gel Polish.

“My husband’s family are Australian, his father’s side are Indigenous, and the land is their heart,” says Karolyn. “It’s a very sad time for them all and this was a tribute to them.”
