After walking through an ordinary record shop in the centre of London’s Soho and into its basement area, I suddenly found myself cocooned in a magical wintry wonderland, which was the scene for accessories designer Sophia Webster’s new season showcase, I Scream for Ice Queens.

Feeling both surprised and amazed by my new surroundings, I first took in the sight of a huge snow globe containing two models posing for guests. Instantly it became clear that this was going to be no ordinary catwalk show.

As I moved on, I then came across a large ice sculpture with some of Sophia’s shoe designs displayed carefully upon it. Renowned for her elaborate creations, Sophia’s latest collection was a dream to admire with high heels featuring bejewelled angel wings and sandals featuring 3D butterflies and sequins.

The main room was lit with an icy blue glow and faux snow helped to further set the arctic scene. Rinse FM DJ, Emerald, heightened the atmosphere with R&B tunes and seven models kept their cool with steely glares and limited movements that allowed guests to study every little design detail.

To reflect Sophia’s ice queen theme, session nail technician, Rebecca Jade Wilson, designed a frosted French look with Orly’s Rose Coloured Glasses, a pink-tinted clear gloss, and white glitter on the tips of nails. Toes were coated with Rehab, an off-white shade from Orly’s upcoming Breathable collection. “The Breathable range doesn’t require a base or top coat, so is the perfect polish for my team and I to use backstage, as it’s easy to apply with a quicker drying time,” revealed Rebecca.

As I stepped onto the street outside the venue, I found myself reflecting on Sophia’s presentation. The ice queen theme had been perfectly executed and the entire event had transported guests to a whole new realm, offering a form of escape from the outside world. And, as usual, Sophia’s shoe and accessory designs were beautiful, leaving many guests looking forward to the arrival of autumn and winter!
